Contemporary Art Fair

One of the distinguishing characteristics of this competition and exhibition is that our judge is always a highly acclaimed museum curator. This year our esteemed judge is Anne Lyden, Associate Curator of Photography at the J. Paul Getty Museum.

Exhibition Space & Public Art Experience in North Park

A unique artist run storefront exhibition space and public art experience in North Park, a diverse and historic urban community of San Diego. The gallery is entirely visible from the sidewalk and was designed to accommodate sculptural installations, cross-disciplinary works, digital media, and performance events. The space allows for unconventional presentation opportunities for artists and unexpected art encounters for viewers. Intended to enliven the experience of the pedestrian it is an experiment in public art that is accessible to everyone in the community - an attempt to render visibility and transparency into the art process itself. Art Produce received the 2009 "Orchid Award" for public art from the San Diego Architectural Foundation.

ArtReach, a 501 c3 not for profit organization was formed to address the issue of lack of art education in San Diego County elementary schools. The organization provides standards-based art education programs taught by professional artists, with content designed to be appropriate for each grade level. Signature art projects, or projects customized to enhance a school’s current lesson plans are offered to K-6 graders county-wide. ArtReach has been accredited by AERO (Arts Education Roundtable of San Diego.)

The Glashaus is an artist community housed in an old glass factory in Barrio Logan. Designed and built by sculptors Greg Brotherton and Matt Devine, the Glashaus consists of eight individual artist studios and the Device Gallery. This unique venue, which provides visitors with a behind the scenes look into an artist at work, hosts a variety of special events including open studio nights, educational tours and fundraisers.

Jon Block produces shows & events highlighting the arts. Favoring site-specific, non-traditional spaces, his company Jon Block Creations is renowned for converging multiple art mediums - live music, theatre, comedy, film, dance, visual art, so on - in ways that are exhilarating and very accessible to the mainstream. A screenwriting graduate of USC's School of Cinema-Television, Jon Block is also a board member of the San Diego Music Foundation, creators of the San Diego Music Awards.

LOSD has been bringing accessible, affordable opera and musical theater productions to San Diego since 1979. The company proudly performs operas and musicals from the European and American tradition, in English, presenting the finest young musical talent available with full orchestra and chorus accompaniment. Contemporary Visual Arts Institution

Founded in 1941, the MCASD is the preeminent contemporary visual arts institution in San Diego County, with locations in La Jolla and downtown San Diego. For five fabulous days and nights, September 29 - October 3, the San Diego Film Festival celebrates the art & style of film with a unique mix of thought-provoking, award-winning films designed to engage, enlighten and entertain audiences followed by five of San Diego’s hottest parties. The diverse program includes over 75 features, shorts, documentaries and music videos from around the World. SDFF is redefining the film experience and doesn't believe in just screening films, but instead aims to offer an entire 360 degree experience around each film. Established in November 2003 in response to the untold damage created by the San Diego fires. A total of fourteen artists received grants. Synergy Art Foundation is a philanthropic organization that is open to all artists, including visual and performing artists, writers, poets, and filmmakers as well as arts organizations.
Synergy Art Foundation supports and nurtures artists by increasing viable opportunities. We pioneer programs in arts education, arts for healing, community arts, and specific international and national art projects.
