This evening The San Diego Museum of Art will screen three films beginning at 8:00 p.m. that Salvador Dalí worked on as writer, art director, or artist. At 7:00 p.m., prior to the film screenings, Sara Cochran, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Phoenix Art Museum, will present a lecture on the relationship between Hollywood and Salvador Dalí, and the specific influence the industry had on his art. The screening of these films is held in conjunction with the exhibition From El Greco to Dalí: The Great Spanish Masters from the Pérez Simón Collection.

Breadtruck Films, Sezio, and the Museum of Photographic Arts are proud to host the world premiere of "Working Class", a new documentary from Jeffery Durkin. "Working Class" tells a tale of two cities through the eyes of artists Mike Giant (SF) and Mike Maxwell (SD).

The film premiere will be hosted at MoPA in Balboa Park at 7pm on Thursday, September 8th. The Silent Comedy will kick the evening off with a stripped down performance, there will be cocktails available, and the film will start promptly at 8pm. Featuring nine-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater, The Ultimate Wave follows a quest to find the perfect wave-riding experience. Filmed in Tahiti and among the islands of French Polynesia, the film showcases dramatic giant-screen surfing action in a unique Pacific paradise. With their host, Tahitian surfer Raimana Van Bastolaer, Kelly Slater and a group of friends seek out the best waves breaking on the reef at Tahiti’s famed surf site Teahupo‘o. Kelly and Raimana share a passion for the waves, but have different ideas about what surfing means to them: is it a modern competitive sport or an ancient Polynesian wave-riding art?

La Jolla Playhouse will launch its innovative, site-specific Without Walls (WoW) program this fall with Susurrus, written by David Leddy. Susurrus is a unique audio play that has been presented around the world in various garden locations. Audiences experience a subtly woven narrative by listening on iPods, where they’ll hear the play unfold while following a mapped route through the San Diego Botanic Garden, specifically designed by the playwright. Without actors or stage, Susurrus is part radio play, part avant-garde sonic art and part stroll in the park. The listener hears snippets about opera, memorial benches and botany, which fit together into poignant story of love and loss.

When the wicked Don John conspires to break up the wedding, will false accusations and misunderstandings prevent the young couple’s happy ending? Witty wordplay, passionate poetry and clever plot twists make this the perfect romantic evening under the stars.

In the court of the Austrian Emperor Josef, Antonio Salieri is the influential composer. Enter the greatest musical genius of all time: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Salieri loathes Mozart and is obsessively jealous of his talent. Salieri realizes that his talent is no match for Mozart’s genius, and sets out to destroy his rival. This theatrical masterpiece, part biography and part murder-mystery, is filled with some of the greatest music ever composed and will bring to life one of the greatest composers of all time.

Tours begin at the Grantville Trolley Station on the Green Line and travels to Santee.

KIDS ON BOARD: Also returning this year was the highly successful education/outreach component called Kids on Board, which provides an opportunity for students from underserved schools to be part of the Trolley Dance experience. After an in-school workshop on site-specific dance, students will then take the Trolley tour on Friday, September 23 at no cost to them or their school.
